AnOther Home has come to a close — and what a powerful few days it’s been.
Across four days at Woden Library, young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds came together to explore creativity, culture, and performance — many for the first time. Through theatre games, storytelling, and devising their own scenes, they built confidence, made new friends, and shared their voices in a safe, joyful space.
Survey responses from families told us what we hoped to hear — that their children felt more confident, more connected, and more included in their community. One parent told us:
“Thank you for your time and support + encouragement with our children.”
Another shared: “Good food, good fun!”

The young participants spoke about learning to speak in front of people, working in a team, and telling stories. One child said:
“I loved this experience. It was fun and I made friends.”

This work matters — for building belonging, for lifting young voices, and for growing a future where every child knows they belong in the story.
Thank you to the Libraries ACT, ACT government, and our generous community organisations Vinnies and MHub who shared resources with us. You made AnOther Home feel exactly as it should: welcoming, empowering, and real. Special thanks to all the incredible children and families who took part, and the dedicated team of artists who made AnOther Home possible. Your energy, stories, and trust made this program unforgettable.
