About
A series of workshops that provide training in grounding, performance preparation, self care, holding space for others and tolerance for each other.
Working in the performing arts as an actor, facilitator, arts worker or many of the other roles can often place one in an open and vulnerable position. These workshops give participants the necessary tools to ground oneself and nurture oneself so that the work we do nourishes rather than depletes or traumatises.
Rebus Theatre has a commitment to providing opportunities and platforms to marginalised and disadvantaged communities, communities that often experience trauma and neglect. We create experiences and events that bring all communities together. In order to do this we need to develop the capacity to accept and celebrate differences. This means holding space for each other by being kind, tolerant and non-judgemental. It means seeing differences of opinions, perspectives and beliefs as an opportunity to grow, empathise and expand.
Tools and skills learnt
Preparing the body and mind before performing or facilitating
De-rolling from a character or session
How to hold space and how to support someone in a safe and respectful way for both parties.
