Building on over ten years’ experience using applied theatre to create social change for marginalised communities, Rebus Theatre will deliver an innovative work ready program for young adults with neurodivergence or intellectual disabilities. Expressive Pathways capitalises on the playful nature of theatre to teach real world skills and culminates in industry placements at The Canberra Theatre.

Over one year, a Rebus theatre director and a registered Trainer and Assessor, will use the therapeutic nature of theatre to guide participants through Foundational Workplace Skills. The significance of the program lies in the innovative application of theatre techniques to bring out the best in participants in a supportive, expressive environment.

Through hands-on activities, participants will refine communication skills through immersive role-playing exercises, simulating job interviews and workplace scenarios to equip themselves for real-world challenges. They will then gain invaluable real-world experience through work placements in front of house roles at the Canberra Theatre. The program aligns seamlessly with educational curricula while paving the way for potential employment opportunities.
