Held at various locations in Canberra (Braddon and Downer), iDrama is designed to encourage participants to develop their creative expression, build confidence, make new friends, and learn a few performance skills along the way. No acting experience required!

What to expect

Running to the ACT school term, iDrama is run by two Rebus drama teachers per class, many of whom have lived experience of disability themselves.

Rebus drama teachers are practicing artists who use their skills to develop the strengths and interests of the group, supporting participants to develop characters and create and rehearse an original play, which friends and family are then invited to watch at the end of each semester.

Through drama games and activities, participants learn skills in:

  • movement and physical theatre
  • voice
  • improvisation
  • play development
  • music

Rebus is a company that exists to provide opportunities for artists who have lived experience of marginalisation. For many participants, iDrama has been a launchpad into further opportunities and paid theatre work offered by Rebus!

HOW MUCH?

$510 per person, per ten-week term.

The NDIS price guide offers funding for activities such as iDrama (Inclusive Drama), under an NDIS capacity building item which allows core funding for Community, Social and Recreational Activities.

This support item allows participants to engage in recreational activities when costs of participation exceed an affordable level, and when the participant is at risk of social isolation. If this support item fits with the NDIS goals of a participant, you can use NDIS funds to pay for the full cost of Inclusive Drama classes.

Participants that have plan-managed or self-managed NDIS plans can use the support item (number 04_210_0125_6_1) to use NDIS funding, if they are at risk of social isolation.

Rebus will invoice you at the end of each school term.
