Rebus Theatre’s Project Alchemy and Candelo Art Society present:

The Children of Destiny and the Tiger of Doom

11:30 am Saturday April 22nd

Candelo Village Festival Street Stage

The Children Of Destiny And The Tiger Of Doom is a community theatre project led by Mica Mahani. With a sizeable cast of adults and children, this play uses music and dance to tell a classic tale of hope and despair, using metaphor and symbolism to suggest deeper meaning. The question is – when crisis strikes, can the Children of Destiny save the day?! This play has something in it for everyone and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

The Children of Destiny and the Tiger of Doom is part of Project Alchemy, a series a cross disciplinary arts projects to build community connection across south-east Australia. The project is facilitated Canberra based Rebus Theatre and involves artists from Bega Valley Shire, Eurobodalla Shire, East Gippsland, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, and the ACT.

This work is inspired by anthropocene issues – especially the dream of cultural change around attitude toward our environment, and creating a liveable ecology for present and future generations.

This play piloted as a one off at Tanja Hall in December 2022, and was received with so much enthusiasm that it had to come back again, this time with the support of Project Alchemy for Candelo Village Festival. This encore performance has been reworked and extended with a larger cast and more original music by local musician Tamlyn Magee and is destined to be even more exciting than the original.

Project Alchemy is made possible thanks to funding from the Australian Government for the Black Summer Bushfire Grant Program. Rebus is also supported by Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres and the ACT Government. More about Project Alchemy here.
